Last December, I read an ads on Facebook about Windsor University looking for a volunteer for their on going study with children age ranging 2-6 yrs old. Thinking that it might help me to understand and know more things about Kendrick, I signed up for it. There was two sessions held, the first one was last December(first Saturday) and because we were so busy the rest of the month, I have to postpone the second part until yesterday.
Since I signed up voluntarily,I received no compensation of anykind aside from $10 they gave me to cover the gas and which is ok, Windsor University is only 5 minutes drive from us anyway, with or without it,I`m still willing to do the study.Kendrick on the other hand, get a toy of his own choice after each session.
The first session were divided in two parts each lasted for an hours. What happen was, the first hour were only me and him. They put us in a room, give us a certain toys and told me what I have to do. It was videotaped the whole time because they will also use it as a teaching materials to Psychology student in the university. Every 10 minutes, they gave us another type of toys and we play. Kendrick was oblivious to the camera so it means, whatever we`re doing, is his usual behavior when we are at home. The second part was spent with the examiner which also lasted for an hour.
Anyway, yesterday was the second session and I also got the result of the first study and I`m very satisfied with Kendrick`s result.By the way, the whole study was conducted by professional Child Psychologist, it`s a part of their study about Children`s Social Behaviour and I`m glad that we are a part of it.
Behavioral Observations
Kendrick presented as a quiet but very friendly child. he did not initiate conversation with the examiner but responded to all conversations initiated by the examiner in a friendly and polite manner. Throuhout testing, he was alert and very cooperative, and he demonstrated a reasonable interest in all tasks presented to him. Kendrick was able to sustain his attention throughout the duration of the testing and completed all tasks presented to him. The results of the testing are believed to be a reasonably accurate estimate of Kendrick`s social skill and language functioning.

A Composite scroe is aderived on the basis of his performances across tasks assessing his ability to interpret spoken sentences of increasing length and complexity, his knowledge of grmmatical rules in a sentences-completion exercise and his capacity to accurately lable pictures of people, objest, and actions. His general language abilities are Average compared to other children his age.
